You know, when I first started out, the very first aspect of online business that intrigued me was affiliate marketing. I'm sure I wasn't the only one, I mean, think about it: Hundreds and hundreds of online marketers promoting your site, using their resources, building your list by thousands, and your customer base by hundreds per product launch in exchange for half the profits.
Considering I've seen close to 10,000 subscribers land on lists in one week through product launch affiliate promotion, that's a mighty good deal. Imagine what you'd do with a list like that. I couldn't stop playing with my calculator.
Time to put it into action I thought.
So here I was, almost seven years ago, a complete marketing newbie thinking it'd all be easy. All I have to do is put up the best product I can, pay out at least half in commissions, promote for a bit, and after a while, things would take off and the affiliates would go crazy for my offer (which I considered to be the best around at the time, and to this day, I believe it was).
There was a problem though..
No one would promote. I had my site, I had a kick ass product, an awesome pay plan, and I knew my site was being seen by people with the power to promote, so what was going on? Well, here I almost seven years later, and looking back it's worrying how naive that view was. There's far more to affiliate marketing than creating an offer and stuffing it on front of potential affiliates. I learned the hard way, through more than $30,000 and many years of sitting in the same chair trying to figure things out and complete the picture through a spattering of other marketers contradictory info products.
For those of you reading that don't have a spare $30,000 laying around, and don't want to be sitting on that chair in front of your computer for the next 5 years trying to find out what works and what doesn't through endless tracking and testing, this is for you.
